Become an ambassador for the healthy potato by participating in the Congress 2K Fun Run!

Scientific work in the U.S. and around the world highlights the connection between potato nutrition and improved athletic performance – what better way to put this message across on a global platform?

However, the clue is in the title – the main objective is to simply have fun in one of Dublin’s oldest parks and work up a good appetite for a hearty Irish breakfast!

The Fun Run will take place in the beautiful 20 hectare Herbert Park right on the Congress doorstep.

One of Dublin’s oldest and most popular parks, Herbert Park opened to the public in 1911 after being used as the location for the Dublin International Exhibition in 1907. The purpose of the exhibition was to promote the trade of Irish goods. Today Herbert Park’s facilities include 8 tennis courts, bowling green, 2 playgrounds, 3 football pitches, croquet lawn, a synthetic sports pitch, allotments and a duck pond!

The race will start at the Herbert Park entrance in front of the Herbert Park Hotel. The surface is mainly gravel and our runners will be right next to open green areas. Don’t be surprised if you see a duck or two in the pond. The route will be 2km.

You will be asked to indicate your wish to participate in the Fun Run during the Congress registration process.

We hope you do join the fun and carry home the message that potatoes provide the carbohydrates and nutrients needed for an active and healthy lifestyle.
